![]() Tests for trend were performed using linear regression analysis. Differences in mean A1C by age-group were examined by ANOVA. A1C levels were analyzed by age and by sex. We categorized age into groups of 5 years (i.e., <40, 40–44, 45–49, 50–54, 55–59, 60–64, 65–69, and ≥70 years) with the age-groups collapsed for adequate sample size in the youngest and oldest bins. Further studies are needed to determine whether age-specific diagnostic and treatment criteria would be appropriate. The association of A1C with age was similar when restricted to the subset of FOS subjects with NGT and after adjustments for sex, BMI, fasting glucose, and 2-h postload glucose values.ĬONCLUSIONS-A1C levels are positively associated with age in nondiabetic populations even after exclusion of subjects with IFG and/or IGT. The 97.5th percentiles for A1C were 6.0% and 5.6% for nondiabetic individuals aged <40 years in FOS and NHANES, respectively, compared with 6.6% and 6.2% for individuals aged ≥70 years ( P trend < 0.001). Linear regression revealed 0.014- and 0.010-unit increases in A1C per year in the nondiabetic FOS and NHANES populations, respectively. RESULTS-In the FOS and NHANES cohorts, A1C levels were positively associated with age in nondiabetic subjects. Multivariate analyses were performed, adjusting for sex, BMI, fasting glucose, and 2-h postload glucose values. In FOS, we examined A1C by age in a subset with NGT, i.e., after excluding those with impaired fasting glucose (IFG) and/or impaired glucose tolerance (IGT). ![]() ![]() RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS-We performed cross-sectional analyses of A1C across age categories in 2,473 nondiabetic participants of the Framingham Offspring Study (FOS) and in 3,270 nondiabetic participants from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2001–2004. We examined whether A1C was associated with age in nondiabetic subjects and in subjects with normal glucose tolerance (NGT) in two population-based cohorts. OBJECTIVE-Although glycemic levels are known to rise with normal aging, the nondiabetic A1C range is not age specific. The 19440 World Movie inspired many Americans to buy their first television set and then in 1948, the popular radio show Texaco Star TMan on Fireer made the move and became the first weekly televised variety show, earning host Milton Berle the name “Mr Television” and demonstrating that the medium was a stable, modern form of entertainment which could attract advertisers. Televised events such as the 1936 Summer Olympics in Germany, the 19340 coronation of King George VI in the UK, and David Sarnoff’s famous introduction at the 1939 New York World’s Fair in the US spurred a growth in the medium, but World War II put a halt to development until after the war. It started before the collapse, and began to tell the story of the process of collapse itself. However, I was disappointed when Fear the Walking Dead missed out on what I perceived to be a golden opportunity to tell a different kind of story, and to differentiate itself from TWD. It isn't a bad narrative choice in both of those cases (at least initially), the point was to explore how an ordinary person might react to a chaotic world where society has fallen apart, and throwing the characters into it is an effective way of emphasizing the shock of it. Both 28 days later and the Walking Dead is centered around someone who wakes up from a coma after the collapse has already happened. Ironically, most zombie movies skip past huge chunks of the actual collapse itself. Maybe something have changed after season 7 though. Now speak not good"), and at best showed promise, but was all scrapped by the next revolution of the locust swarm cycle. But no, we were normal adults a couple of years ago. We have forgotten how to talk normally for some reason, and admittedly would make a lot more worldbuilding sense decades after the collapse if we were a society that had grown up alone as children in the dump without parental guidance. It was frustrating to see its attempts at worldbuilding, and the potential to see how a new society would be built in its setting, but the worldbuilding was gimmicky at worst ( "hi, we have lived in a dump for a couple of years. This is especially apparent in the Walking Dead, where the protagonists are just thrown in an endless and predictable narrative loop Unsafe! Find safe place! Bad thing happens! Unsafe! Find safe place! Like a locust swarm. Realistically, a new status quo would be reached eventually, so the longer a zombie story goes, the more the writers tend to reach for often contrived reasons to keep the setting in perpetual collapse. Anything that doesn't hinge on the setting to be the sole driver of the plot, like a lot of zombie fiction does. Or it can look to procedural shows like detective shows, or shows like stargate SG-1 for that matter. A status quo after a post apocalypse would require worldbuilding, so good places to look for narrative inspiration would be the sci-fi and fantasy genres, where the setting is a sandbox for storytelling. I think there is great storytelling potential in a setting that deals with a status quo of a post-apocalyptic world with zombies, but the "how" of writing that is not found in the established zombie genre. ![]() So it just fills the narrative void with contrived drama. I also think this stems from how the zombie genre leans so heavily towards the collapse of society as a setting, so a lot of the time people who are great at writing zombie stories don't necessarily know how to write a new status quo. ![]() Sorry for the wall of text! I have just thought a lot about this, so when I put it in words it became. The camera Boyle used for filming wasn't particularly high-end which is a real shame - because this film with a top-range camera would've been beautiful.ĮDIT - I know they’re not zombies, I just called them zombies for the sake of simplicity! Sorry! The only thing I was left wanting with this film was a better camera quality really. It kept the pace of the film quick and created so much damn tension throughout. They sprint towards their prey and leap on them- plus the transformation from human to infected takes seconds (which is something that more zombie films should do in my opinion). Even though some of the performances weren't very good, I often overlook them because of the brilliant writing.Īlso, this film is actually scary! The zombies are terrifying. The main characters are well-rounded and we learn about them and genuinely get attached to them throughout the film's runtime (unlike the sequel). Boyle's beautiful and harrowing shots to bring this London to life are just incredible. The setting is easily one of the best of any zombie film I've seen - an abandoned, lifeless London with literally no life around at the film's start. Even though the sequel really lets this movie down (other than the legendary intro), I really believe this film is one of the best zombie films out there. The two musical lines can cross from one staff to the other, but because of the cross-staff beaming and stem direction, and the lack of rests in the second measure in the bass staff, it's obvious that there are two lines played by two hands. Here is an example from a Bach harpsichord concerto. Also, scientific pitch notation adds an octave number to letters so we know exactly in which octave a tone is. The staves take a clef to set what letters apply to the lines and spaces. ![]() I think you may be confusing the general term ledger lines with the specific middle C. A barline devides the music into short blocks called Measures. This video teaches you about the grand staff, middle C, treble clef and bass clef. there is a middle c on top of a middle c. Notes on the Treble Clef are high in pitch. You can see that the notes in the middle spaces actually spell. The Clef indicates whether the notes will be high or low in pitch. The example on the right notates exactly the same thing, with exactly the same pitches, but using cross-staff beaming. The notes in the spaces of the treble staff follow the pattern above D - F - A - C - E - G. When you see notes like the example below on the left, this is to indicate that the note below the treble staff is to be played with the right hand. When the music requires both hands to be in the bass register, or both hands to be in the treble register, the two staves can use different clef signs (for instance two staves with treble clefs or two staves with bass clefs) or the notation "8va" or "8vb" can be put over certain notes to indicate that they are to be played an octave higher or lower than they appear on the staff. It should also be noted that the two staves are traditionally set up to separate the part played by the left hand from the part played by the right hand the lower staff is for the left hand, the upper for the right. The space above the top line is the note G5. ![]() Each line and space in the musical staff corresponds with a specific note, and the clef informs the reader of the specific note names. Middle C for the treble clef is the first ledger line below the staff and for bass clef it is the first ledger line above the staff. Regardless of the visual appearance, technically there is only one ledger line between the staves, and on that line goes only the pitch C (or C# or Cb). Reading music at a professional level can take years of practice, but the basics of the treble clef and bass clef notations are quite simple. More or less space can be put between the staves to allow for slurs or ties or other musical symbols or text, and to allow for the peculiarities of cross-staff notes and cross-staff beaming. To your question, "Also, wouldn't there typically be more notes in between the bass clef and treble clef? Why are they missing in this case?" I should explain that in typesetting sheet music, the amount of space between the treble and bass clef of the piano is variable, but the number of notes between them are not. Here are two pictures that should explain everything. ![]() On the other hand, if a student is not selected for Algebra I in 7th grade, it is usually impossible for them to ever move up to the double accelerated path in subsequent years.Ĭlasses at HEROES Academy move at an accelerated pace.
